abstract

lactoferrin (lf) is a bioactive protein present in all external secretions such as milk that plays important role in the innate host defense. therefore, the lf has a major role in bovine mammary gland defense during mastitis. in this study, 5’-flanking region of bovine lf gene containing three single nucleotide polymorphisms (snps) at positions −602 (t/g), −600 (a/g) and -586 (t/c) were screened using pcr-sscp method.  three distinct sscp patterns, representing 3 different haplotypes (a, b and c), were identified. the frequencies of a, b, and c haplotypes for amplified fragment were 0.43, 0.39 and 0.18, respectively. an association study was applied with data from milk production traits and somatic cell score (scs). statistically significant differences were found between various haplotypes at the amplified fragment and fat percentage (p

Single Nucleotide Polymorphism in the Promoter Region of Bovine Interleukin 8 Gene and its Association with Milk Production Traits and Somatic Cell Score of Holstein Cattle in Iran

Background: Interleukie-8 is a proinflammatory cytokine and a potent chemotactic and activation factor for neutrophils. It has been reported to be expressed in high levels by various cell types after immune stimulation and mediates neutrophil recruitment in host. Objectives: The aim of this study was to analysis of the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at position -18...

Association of TG-repeats in the 5’-flanking region of bovine growth hormone receptor (GHR) gene with milk production traits and somatic cell count in Holstein cattle

The growth hormone receptor (GHR) is a member of cytokine/hematopoietin family that mediates the biological actions of growth hormone (GH) on target tissues. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the association of TG-repeat polymorphisms in the 5’-flanking region of bovine GHR gene with milk production traits and somatic cell score (SCS) in Holstein cattle of Iran. The part of 5’...

Single nucleotide polymorphism of the lactoferrin gene and its association with milk production and reproduction traits in Iranian Holstein cattle

Bovine lactoferrin (LTF) is a member of the transferrin family of iron-binding proteins. This protein is present in a wide variety of biological fluids and shows important physiological functions in body. In this study, 404 blood samples were collected from Holstein dairy farms in Iran. A 301 bp fragment of intron 6 in bovine LTF gene was amplified and the animals were genotyped using polymeras...
